The Tennessee Department of Education recently released the district-level ACT scores for the 2023-2024 academic year. Since 2018, all students—not just those planning to attend college—have been required to take the ACT. As a nationally standardized test, the ACT serves as a valuable benchmark for evaluating district performance on a nationwide scale. Regionally, Kingsport stood out as the leader, with six Northeast Tennessee districts ranking in the top quartile.
Even for those without children currently in the system, the performance of local schools is an important indicator of a community’s overall investment in its future. Strong schools reflect a community’s commitment to growth, education, and long-term prosperity, signaling that the area is well-maintained and forward-thinking. This investment in education directly impacts real estate property values, as high-performing schools attract families seeking quality education, raising demand for homes in the area. As a result, property values tend to increase, benefiting homeowners and ensuring the continued appeal and stability of the community.
